You know, not to brag
Why is it that anyone who enjoys the sciences feels the need to rail on the arts, and anyone who enjoys the arts is forced to rail on the sciences? Even if you didn’t enjoy math, the phrase “side-angle-side” isn’t meaningless, and the concepts of partial derivatives and ordinary differential equations is what keeps your plane aloft. Similarly, just because you never finished a single book in English class doesn’t mean reading novels is a frivolity, or a painting is simply color on a canvas.
A polymath (or more commonly, a Renaissance Man) is someone who excels at multiple fields. Are they a dying breed? I hope not, because as my schooling begins to specialize to an unimaginable degree, I am trying my hardest to balance this with my leisure activities. I do this with the hopes of living up to the prediction offered by one of my high schools teachers when he referred to me as a true polymath.
